About the Book
For Jason Snow, achieving happiness was about obtaining big things: big careers, big homes, big cars, big bank accounts, and a big ego. Ironically, these choices achieved the exact opposite of what he really wanted. He hates his job, his relationship with his wife is hanging by a thread, and worst of all, he feels disgusted at the thought that his kids are suffering because of choices he’s made.
In the midst of his unhappiness, Jason ventures up the steep slope of Mount Hood in hopes of finding a source of peace on the summit. The climb brings him face-to-face with four truths taught to him by an unlikely source: a mid-fifties, retired chemical engineer, alpine mountain guide named Clara Schroeder. Clara’s charm and alchemy soon penetrate his rocky exterior and change Jason Snow forever.
In a world where happiness is perceived as a product of status, wealth, social acceptance, appearance, and fame, and love is sought in selfish considerations such as, “who can I attach myself to who will give me what I want,” Snow Rising wrestles with the question: how can I find lasting peace in my life, family, and community? The lessons Jason learns will surprise you, lessons that have the power to put individuals back together, revitalize marriages and families, and help recover fractured organizations.
